Sample Room: Try before you Buy

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I post something in my blog been busy with left and right shopping for the holidays. I’ve been all around the town to get something for my love ones of course hunting for bargains and sales. So anyway here I am to blog about a site that I have stumble upon while I was surfing the net and reading my co-bloggers post.

Everyone wishes they can sample first a product before buying it not only on food but also on cosmetics, skin and hair care, and even wellness products. This is to test if these products works for us, you see not all individuals have the same genetics structure and so we are unique from one another. One product may work for someone while it don’t to some. But sometimes it’s such a hassle to ask for samples in stores specially when the sales lady is so eager with their sales talk and all. And so I am so glad that a site have answered our prayers for letting us have a sample of a product to try before buying it in the market for free.

The Sample Room is the first ever sampling site in the Philippines where you can have a sample product absolutely free and lets you review them to share your thoughts and opinion on the product that you avail on their site. They have diverse brand partners both local and international brands and is still growing until now. Unlike subscription boxes that surprises you with different products, you can choose a product on their site that you want to try according to your skin type and preference. Availing of products depends on points that members acquire from reviewing products, referring friends and buying points (coming soon). Upon registration 100 points is given to the member so one can start having samples and after paying the amount for shipping and handling fee. The product will be sent to your home  or shipping address. The member needs to write a review following the posting guidelines on the site to regain back the points used and received more points. So basically that is how it all works.

I got my first sample products 2 days after I paid the shipping and handling fee which cost PHP 100. I paid through over-the-counter local bank deposit at Banco De Oro and inform Sample Room about my payment through e-mail attaching a photo of the bank deposit slip.

I choose 2 products which are both in full size. In my opinion it’s a steal since if I buy those products in the market It’ll cost me more than Php 100.

Beauty Mom got a new package

I got a freebie from the mailbox last week and this time it’s from Belle de Jour (BDJ) Community. BDJ is first known for their power planner that has not only made life better for their users but also empowers and inspire them to live life to the fullest. Now BDJ has develop into a community  and with that they have launched their new community site to encourage their followers to connect with them the BDJ team and their brand partners.

One day I got an email from BDJ that says a package is on the way for me. And true enough when I got home I got a package waiting for me.

And this is what’s inside the package the new Pantene treatment kit. Even if haven’t open the box I can already say how good the products smells. Pantene is a well known hair product here in the Philippines. Lots of girls use this product not only because its affordable but it also works. With their line new line of treatment it promises to repair damaged hair.

I got a severely dry and damaged hair cause of my regular hair coloring and perming so this product would be a big help for me to bring back the old beauty of my crowning glory. I will be posting a review after I have used it.

Secret Santa Glamourbox Unboxing

Hi everyone! For my first official great find I would like to share to you my very first unboxing experience. You see subscription box has been around for a long time but it is just recently that I had joined the bandwagon after reading a lot of blogs from other people most specially MUE (Make-up Enthusiast) like me. The fact that you get to open a box and be surprised in what you are getting is enough for me to be encouraged to get one of these babies. It’s like opening a gift on Christmas day even if it’s not really Christmas day. And what good way to start joining but to order the Secret Santa box of Glamourbox for this December (a christmas gift for myself). So enough of these blah blah and lets start unboxing.

I received my very first subscription box courtesy of Glamourbox last Wednesday after I get back from my divisoria (The value shopping capital of the Philippines) adventure. I love how Glamourbox make sure that the package is very much secured. The main box is covered with transparent plastic and contained in another box before it was put in the parcel plastic bag (too bad I haven’t taken a picture of it).

I opened my box like a little girl all grinning as I see the contents all covered in a special peach paper (don’t know if it’s a parchment paper of what). It looks so elegant it gives me an idea with how I would like my future church wedding giveaways should look like.

 Now for the much awaited unveiling. The first that will great you upon detaching the GB sticker is their welcome card. It contains the theme of the box and a message from the Glamourbox team. How festive this card is, do you feel the spirit of christmas?

At the back of the card are the descriptions of the products included in the box. It gives us information so we know what to expect with each product and how much the full size of each of these in case that we really like the product and decided to buy it.

 

 

First in the list is the Holika Holika Face 2 Change CC Cream. It comes in a small sample tube. I haven’t tried any CC Cream yet but according to other bloggers its much better than BB Cream because of its color adapting characteristics unlike BB creams that tends to be mostly in pink undertone and makes some look ashy. I was given a sample size of 5 ml worth Php 20.

 

Next is the Holika Holika Pure Mellow Multi-Puff. This multi-colored sponge will remind you of  marshmallows. This can be used for applying cream-type products like foundation, bb creams, cc creams, cream blushes and the likes. I got a full size worth Php 265.

My most favorite of all is this full size eau de toilette from Avon. The Avon Fragrance in Only Imagine smells like a floral bouquet. I first saw it in one of Avon’s brochure and instantly fell in love with it. I said to myself I gotta have this perfume, I’m so glad they include it in this box. A 50 ml bottle cost Php 1500. This is my everyday perfume since I got it. Smells so heavenly even my husband love it.

Another one of my favorite is The Cream Factory Bath Creams. I got their goat’s milk and acai berry variant. It reminds me of my ultimate favorite berry froyo. I haven’t use any bath creams. I guess I have to make a review with this one in another post. I got a 221 ml sample size about Php 266. The full size 768ml cost Php 699.

I also get sample of Strip It! Hair Removal Sugaring Kit and a 10% Discount Voucher. This is very timely to have since its already time for me to have some grooming. I would like to go to a salon to have it serviced but since I have this I might as well do it on my own, it’ll save me a lot of moola since the service cost around Php 700. The sugaring kit cost Php 350 for 350g.

Another new product that I get is Zen Zest Kitchen Fragrance in Choco Cappucino. This product promise to take away all those disgusting smell in your kitchen but for me I use it when I want my room or our living room to smell good. I really smells like choco cappucino. One of my pregnancy cravings is chocolate and I’m totally loving this product. I get a sample size of 50 ml about Php 80, after this sample I’ll get the full size which is Php 250 for 250 ml.

 

I also get bonus products like 2 Paula’s Choice Skincare Samples which are the Slip into Silk Body Lotion which promises hydrate my skin with water-binding agents and plant and vitamin-based antioxidants and Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid that evens skin tone, reduces redness and builds collagen and unclogs and diminished enlarged pores.

Another bonus product is a Fabulosa Necklace. This necklace is so cute even my officemates notice it. It’s perfect for my everyday office outfits.

Short introduction of the beauty mom

Hi everyone I know its very common to start a blog with a self introduction but I would still go on with this just so you may know a few background of me, the beauty mom, lols. Actually I’m not exceptionally good looking and I may look plain for some. I am also morena but I’m proud of my skin and I never felt like using any whitening soap just to alter it. I just enhance what God had given me with the use of makeup and other skin care products.

My blog is about scoring good finds while still sticking to our budget. I know I’m not really good in sticking up with my budget, I do splurge sometimes but you can only count with your hands. I always try to go around the metro just to find good quality stuffs and services that would make every cent that I earned get what it’s worth. And since I am a mom of a 7 years old girl and soon to be a mom of a baby boy (yes, I am actually expecting right now) and being newly wed with the father of my second child, I need to start saving for our future plans of having our own house and a business of our own.

So everyone please bare with me if I have flaws with my spelling and grammar. Hope this blog would help moms like me and even those who want to score some good finds that won’t hurt your wallets. Enjoy reading…
